The Golem Akademie, started in 2019 as a branch of German news publisher Golem, is one of the younger ventures in the Marquard Media portfolio.

At the heart of Golem Akademie are workshops on IT infrastructure, software development, and security topics. The programs are designed to enable IT professionals master every-day challenges in their work life. In order to foster real-world skills, practical, relevant exercises are an integral part of the courses.

The Akademie came to life through a cooperation with Berlin-based cloud service provider SysEleven. Result of the joint development were a couple of courses on the Kubernetes cloud management tool. Launched at the height of the Cloud Native industry trend, the programs proved to be highly successful, selling out repeatedly. Its success paved the way for the expansion of the Akademie, attracting many more partners even outside Golem's traditional ecosystem.

A major part in the Akademie's workshop portfolio are trainings in software development. Courses on the ever so popular Python programming language are realized in connection with Leipzig-based Python Academy. Many more partners are working jointly with Akademie on developing the program further (and more is yet to come), like the German IT/software company codecentric AG which provides a couple of cloud-related programs.

For over 20 years, the Golem news portal has been providing IT professionals with news reports, background stories, and opinion pieces. When looking back, partnering with leading software and service providers to set up a program of high-level IT trainings seemed just like a logical, next step.
